@scorpling: *galaxy brains* someone should draw the TLT necromancers as their corresponding Sailor Guardians
Me: Oh that sounds like a great idea. Too bad I've actually never watched Sailor Moon tho

Me: Palamedes in a miniskirt tho.

Little! " Honest " John Foulfellow & Kitten! Gideon with baby/toddler/little sibling! Regressor headcanon { bonus Moodboard/ Outfitboard }
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honest John is a kid regressor, his little age is 5-9 years old.
Gideon is comfortable with being in kitten headspace
When they’re both Regress John pretend to be Gideon’s owner. He may not be a gentle kid but he cares {from @eflen-n-reegee }
Found out about your regression when you started to call him " baba " while burying your face into his chest and ever since then he slightly teased you about it
But anyway he was more than happy to offer you to be your big brother { always wanted a little sibling }
You know Gideon is non-verbal as an Adult but he becomes expressionless in kitty headspace. John claims to understand him { inspired from @eflen-n-reegee }
You would do a blink contest with your cat playmate
John can’t read, so when you ask him to read something to you then he’ll just open the book and make something up while moving pages which makes you laugh { inspired from @eflen-n-reegee }
He genuinely tries his best with you
He doesn’t have any idea what to do when you either have a temper tantrum, teary breakdown or meltdown, he tried to calm you down once { sadly not worked } so he let you get it out of your system, he later asks if you want to talk about it.
Gideon is a cheeky cat. Either drowning things off the tables or scratching curtains, making messes, etc. but gets put into time out by John { inspired from @eflen-n-reegee }
John favorite food is anything apple related, except apple sauce. He ate that one time and he almost threw up. Since then he avoided it
The only way he knows how to deal with misbehaving siblings is either put them down for a nap or time out and then talk about it with them
He likes to play pretend but it’s very difficult to keep up with him. In one minute he’s a tailor and in a another he’s an actor { inspired from @eflen-n-reegee }
He likes to play " fancy party or theater " with you since he’s very fascinated with them { also from @eflen-n-reegee }
Gideon disturbed these games with him " hunting " John, like he sneaked up to him and then pounced off on him { also @eflen-n-reegee }
They have weaseling fights which sometimes ended up with you treating their wounds { inspired from @eflen-n-reegee )
Gideon‘s favorite food is obviously fish treats and surprisingly apples
Both John and Gideon trying to teach you {as their little sibby} how to walk, which ends up with you falling on your behind or tummy but nonetheless they comforting you, telling you tried or it’s a good progress
When you‘re being picked on or bullied, then John will tell them off while Gideon gives them a little lecture with his Mallet
Even after fights both of them will make up { mostly Gideon being the first }, he gives John doodle drawing and John would praise how artistic it is { @eflen-n-reegee }
They don’t have many little nicknames, John is fine with buddy or rascal and Gideon is fine with just giddy
They would call you either sweet heart, your name or {your favorite} animal related nickname
Even though John may not be a hugger, he would hug with both you and Gideon when you all napping together { @eflen-n-reegee }
@nottapossum @sw124 @beautifulcrownmusic @i-ate-your-children @i-love-the-little-things @agedre @theogclownboy @littleconscience @babyspace-sfw @h3ll0everybby1

Full TLT series to date thoughts on rereading Gideon the Ninth, chapters 6-10
A probably semi-regular weekly bonus to my reread blog, since sometimes you realize things on reread that just make you need to yell in a full spoiler space.
It still amuses me that no matter which planet is which House, the whole series is an elaborate way of taking four books and perhaps 2000 pages to say "you can never take Pluto from me".
Harrow saying "Twins are an ill omen" really puts weight on the "necromancy comes from death of a sibling in the womb" theory for me. Twins are a sign that necromancy didn't develop, and triplets and more being even more rare, twins with necromancy in either or both would be almost astronomical odds against. So, twins are an ill omen to a society that depends on death in the womb to perpetuate its power.
Oh my god, Cytherea's shuttle probably got delayed in landing permissions because the scans came back "no living humans aboard". Pro is already dead before landing, as we establish later. The whole "drawing sword on Gideon" debacle is just Cytherea having a laugh. Incredible. "you'd end up a mausoleum centrepiece" yeah and without any further work on him past what you've already done, milady. Bravo. Also, there's such a strong hint about how his skin has a tinge like hers. We know from Corona and Ianthe that necromancers are paler, less vital than non-necros. The fact that Pro is dead and being held together necromantically may very well be what gives his skin that tinge of death, not some tendency of the Seventh.
Adjacent thought: Gideon getting sad about "Dulcinea's" illness killing her, while Harrow is likely to live forever. What fun when none of these things are accurate! A true joy of this series is finding all the little unreliable bits and poking at them to see what they further imply.
Sneaky sneaky, "eight new Lyctors joined with their cavaliers" not "joined by their cavaliers".
If anyone wants some insight into my process: the one thing I can recognize from the Chapter 9 wanderings is what I think might be the pool, the chemical-smell room that's extra nasty inside the "pit", but how does one describe how they think it's a pool without implying that the pool comes back? Especially when my reason for not describing a lot of stuff besides quoting straight from the book is because I don't have mental images so I can't interpret a lot of descriptions. But I do know that a pool, if not this pool, comes back later.
It gives me great joy to call Babs a third wheel to the twins given how they act in Nona at their reunion via Babs's corpse.
Fascinating how Cytherea knows, in chapter 10, to ask to see Gideon's eyes. Have you realized it yet? That the names of the original Lyctors and cavaliers are erased from history, so there should be no one named Gideon, ever again, unless it's outside Jod's dominion. Cytherea knows this, and knows that this means our Gideon poses quite the little mystery. And then, when she sees the gold… Well. WELL. Mercy and August guess how she must have felt, at the end of Harrow. Incredible. This one question holds so much portent, but looks SO innocent at first pass. Muir, you mad lass.

harrow, for the ask game :)
hi hi sniffles i appreciate tgis so much !! headcanon asks !
realistic: uhhhhhh i dont know if this counts <33 but theres So Much evidence tgat i feel confident in saying that harrow is literally the autism/schizophrenia overlap/venn diagram. shes got both
while it may not be realistic it is hilarious: i like giving harrow my exact height (4'7). she is itty bitty teeny tiny
heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends: struggling to draw the line btwn hc & analysis here. im just gonna throw out a few !
reverend parents abused harrow in multiple ways. john and ianthe too. unknowingly or not they all worsen her psychosis
harrow wants to die for love just as much as she wants to live for it (her original plan during the cyth fight, her lobotomy, "let me live long enough to die at your feet", "and you walked to your death like a lover"). vice versa for gideon, too.
fixated on death itself & uses her lyctorhood to push herself as close as she can get — maybe even in a desperate attempt to sense the forgotten thing she Knows is missing. not with the intent to die — cost too much for it — just allowing things to get far away and fuzzy with the barest hint of arms around her again. kind of like how she pushes the bones in her hands nearly to the point of breaking just because she Can . like her parents taught her.
unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own: fashionable harrow. (stone) femme harrow. i am Sorry. verymuch a personal thing and she is 1000% more androgynous/genderless than anything . but femme doesnt necessarily equal Femininity in the traditional sense !! femmes can be all of that as well!!
GOD the way she centers and values this one (1) butch. her shitty lil dramatics. How she takes forever to get ready for the fifth's party while gideon gets ready in 15. same thing in the ball au where she worries over her image. when she dresses cool i do believe its on accident but she DOES dress cool and she DOES care abt that kind of thing, to an extent :] modern aus included !!
DETOURING TO GRAB QUESTIONING FEMMES BY THE SHOULDERS SO LOVINGLY You can do whatever you want forever you are no less femme for having a fucky gender!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's a role and a dynamic and a community and you get to make it your own !!!!!!!! MWAH
bonus unrealistic hcs: gideon somehow prevented harrow from dying when her parents did. maybe even stopped her herself. And in their own horrible way theyve been looking out for each other even back on the ninth when it comes to garbage mental health.

Astrid, Astrid, Astrid, what am I going to do? Sort through your consistently perfect gifs? Pick favourites? You have truly set me a great challenge.
Usually I will go through a person’s whole edits tag but I have sorted these into Narcos and The Mandalorian because I was just looking to see how much you had made and accidentally saw a major spoiler for The Mentalist which I am only on season 2 of. I’m looking forward to [redacted] happening, though, because I was starting to ship them a few episodes in! Anyway, onwards with my impossible task.
Narcos
So before I start on this list I want to say that your colouring? It’s perfect every single time. Seriously. Fair warning: I’m going to be saying “perfect” a lot.
Javier Peña + that thing he does with his right hand - A great compilation! I never noticed this little detail so this gifset was a real (pleasant) surprise. I was checking the notes just to see what the general consensus was and I like the he-wants-a-cigarette theory. Just excellent acting from Pedro what a very keen eye you have! Or maybe you just spend a lot of time fixating on Javi’s hands...
Javi being snarky - Gosh, I love this one! Javi’s sense of humour got me though Narcos, although I think only one or possibly two of these gifs is from season 3? The way the life drains out of him over the course of the series just breaks my effing heart, baby. By the end of the three seasons I was pretty cross with the guys in episode one for calling him an asshole, but maybe I can see their point now, haha! But I still love him. I will protec.
1.05 There Will Be a Future | 3.01 The Kingpin Strategy - It was a great choice to jump from one scene to the other like this. Really adds to the heartbreak. It makes the contrast between his life now (sharing stories in the cool dark) and what it could have been (warmth and light and checked shirts) all the more vivid. The way he looks back at her in the last gif? Ouch.
Narcos, “The Palace in Flames” (2015) | We Can Be Heroes (2020) - A parallel I love and respect, thanks for making such good gifs of it. Shout-out to @keanurevees for being the single funniest person on this planet.
“Jungle Rescue Javi” in Convivir - Listen Jungle Rescue Javi can come and rescue me anytime. You’ve done a great job of colouring so many scenes with different lighting conditions and still have that green shirt look like a green shirt. Like it’s the same hue in each one. How did you do that? That’s pretty neat.
We’ve all gone off the rails down here, Javi. - This scene! I’m not okay! I love the colouring work you have done here. It’s just so perfect, so nice to look at. The whole set has this earthy colour palette and I mean, even Javi isn’t wearing a colourful shirt for once. This is serious.
Javi wearing a leather jacket - These gifs are so HQ I could practically reach out and touch his jacket, you can just feel the textures... with-with your eyes...? You’ve picked shots that all work together as a set, nothing stands out for the wrong reasons. No wide shots, no super close-ups, nothing to throw us off of our jacket appreciation rhythm.
Javi and his yellow aviator sunglasses - My biggest “YEAH BOY!!!” ever for this one. The amount of work that must have gone into this. 24 individual gifs coloured to your usual levels of absolute perfection and then laid out in this very pleasing and completely accurate, not-a-pixel-out-of-line way. Amazing.
Javi chasing Franklin Jurado through Curaçao in Best Laid Plans - Gosh this scene was so tense! You’ve done a great job colouring this despite the changing lighting conditions and the blazing sunshine. Well done! And I never noticed until I saw this gifset for the first time that he’s wearing a pink shirt and jumps from a pink building, haha!
Javier Peña leaning over tables - You see stuff like this? This is why I consider you to be the ultimate expert on Narcos. You make compilations like this and make it look effortless. I wouldn’t know where to start looking for scenes like these without having to rewatch the whole series and take notes. But, hey, maybe that’s what you did. But the fact that you did and made this set is still amazing.
NARCOS | 1.06 EXPLOSIVOS - Great job with such a dark and unforgiving scene! You have the Talent. He looks really pretty here.
Javier Peña + favorite look - Gosh, yes. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Pedro Pascal is a very talented actor. He takes clunky vintage tactical equipment and makes it look flipping incredible, like something he was born to wear. Also thank you for that delectable bonus gif. Arms.
The Mandalorian
Okay I have rambled for, like, 800 words already so I’ll try to say a bit less about these. I’ll try.
Din’s beskar spear heel kick in The Rescue - First of all, I saw this and now I’m pregnant. This is on the list because not only is it Din’s hottest moment for me, but because colouring-wise it is impressive. It’s bright, there’s no colour cast at all, and yet the blacks are really deep and rich. Gideon’s I’m-evil-I-must-wear-nothing-but-black cape looks especially good.
Din’s walk - You are the compilation queen! There’s nothing really that I can say here that I haven’t already said about your other compilation gifsets, it’s just perfect as usual, ya know? You make it look so easy. How does Din look so good when [New Yorker voice] he’s just walkin’ here?
Din just being a dad - Yeah. That’s the Good Stuff.
Din’s shoulder/waist ratio whenever he walks into a room - Everyone shut up I am Thinking.
Din engaging in a dogfight while his son has the time of his life on the backseat in The Siege - Like with your set of pink-shirted Javi chasing that guy in Narcos, you have a real talent for giffing action scenes. You’ve coloured this really well. You can still see details in the clouds and the shadows and your colour balance is impeccable.
Din lifting his helmet to sip soup in The Siege - I love the warmth of this little scene and the colouring you’ve done here. And the bonus gif... same, Grogu, same.
And I think I’ll stop there. I have sadly had to leave out some really excellent posts but I had to draw the line somewhere, haha! You, my friend, are just incredible. Time and time again you grace us with perfect gifs in crisp HD 4K 1080p HDR. And for what? Not for money or reward, but for love. Thank you for all that you do, because you may make your gifs look effortless but I know it is anything but. You’re amazing, you’re talented, you’re perfect.
creators send me 🎨 and i’ll tell you my favourite of your last ten creations and why

And now for more P&F/GF content! At the end of Gideon Rises, the Danville kids have a sleepover with the twins, but Perry, in pet mode, sees Stan open the door behind the vending machine. He sneaks behind him to investigate, and when he sees the portal, he thinks he should report this to OWCA. However, Stan sees that Perry followed him, but doesn't think much of it since he thinks he's just a dumb animal, so he vents to him about Ford to get it off his chest, and now Perry is morally conflicted.
WAIT A SECOND I LOVE THAT???
okay long ramble under the cut y'all know the drill by now
Okay but first of all imagine how Perry would feel when Stan first started talking to him because holy shit is he a monologue magnet or something?
I’d be interested to know what he’d do in that situation, though. Part of me thinks you might be right -- Stan is doing this because he loves his family, and I think on some level, Perry would almost relate to him? Because if at2d proved anything, it’s that Perry would do anything for his family, including turning himself in to let an evil dictator from another dimension turn him into a cyborg.
But on the other hand, he hears sob stories every single day from Heinz, and though a lot of them are just really fucking stupid, there have been a lot that would tug on anyone’s heartstrings and Perry still ignores them and does his job. Sure, Heinz’s inventions are usually made with some malicious intent, but Stan’s portal is arguably more dangerous, so they're kind of equally as thwartable?
This is lowkey looking like a fanfic in the making so even though I genuinely don’t know which response would be more in character, I do have to say that if I were to write a fanfic about this he’d take the sympathetic approach, if only because he can tell this is eating Stan alive. It’s been three whole decades, and this is the first time Stan has dropped his guard and told someone about what happened. Perry may not know what this portal is going to do -- and it doesn’t sound like Stan knows, either -- but he can’t in good conscience stop Stan from going through with it.
Instead, Perry would become the project supervisor. He’d sit by the vending machine every night, and every night, Stan would let him in -- reluctantly at first, but I think he’d grow to like having Perry around. It’s one thing to talk to himself about what he’s doing, but talking to someone else is oddly therapeutic, even if that someone else is a mindless platypus.
And then Not What He Seems happens, and Stan’s taken into custody before he can finish what he’s doing, and it occurs to Perry that he was the least qualified person to supervise this project. I almost feel like he would end up going to Heinz and asking him to watch over this portal because sure, this isn’t quite like his usual tricks, but it’s not like Heinz has never opened a portal into another dimension before, and someone needs to keep an eye on things.
But Heinz would just help because he’s interested in the science behind it, not because he wants to help Stan though I do headcanon that they would be good friends if they spent more time together. Perry’s really the only one on Stan’s side here, and at this point, basically the entire world is against him -- the kids, federal agents, hell, even OWCA asked him to investigate. I feel like he’d know Stan well enough to know that he would fight his way back to the Mystery Shack out of pure determination, so Perry wouldn’t bother trying to help him escape; he’d spend his time making sure Stan had a clear path back and keeping the kids out of the way (which is not an easy feat as a “mindless platypus” but he does manage to slow them down).
I almost wish there was a way to work in a secret agent reveal (or at least a “I have more than two braincells” reveal), but while I don’t think it would work out, I’m gonna give my two cents about it anyway because now that I’ve thought of doing that I really like that idea anyway.
At first, Stan would be like 0_0 because oh shit, the platypus was listening this entire time. Stan's got a reputation to uphold, and he never would have dropped his guard around Perry if he'd known. But Perry would really respect him for what he did, and he'd make sure Stan knows that — something that would mean a lot to him when he noticed the kids gravitating more towards Ford.
I think Perry might grow to dislike Ford purely because he likes Stan so much. I mean, Perry watched Stan work his ass of for weeks to get that portal working and he'd been doing it for decades before, and Ford steps back through and is literally ready to fight a bitch. He hears all about what Stan's been up to over the last 30 years, and his response is to tell Stan to pack his bags and get the fuck out once summer's over. I feel like Perry would be lowkey protective of Stan just like he's lowkey protective of Heinz, and while he can't really do anything about not liking Ford or Roger, he's still going to be there for those Stan and Heinz when they need him to be.
The difference is that Stan would never admit that he needs Perry's reassurance, and it's not like Perry can just pat him on the back whenever he wants to because he's off the clock which means he constantly has to worry about the kids catching himm The best he can do is notice when Stan's getting annoyed and stop what he's doing to go sit down on the couch with him or lie down by his feet or do something just to remind him that someone's still on his side. And, as an added bonus, that's been known to draw Mabel's attention, and that draws everyone else's attention, too.
Ooh it didn't occur to me until I said that but what if the kids start noticing that when Perry hangs out with Stan, he usually looks sad? I feel like Phineas is the type of kid to be decide that his pet is a Sad Detector® and then whenever Perry's sitting next to Stan, the kids decide they need to somehow cheer Stan up. bonus points if Perry notices Ford is sad and even though he doesn't like Ford he still decides to sit down by his feet just to make sure the kids give him some love too.

Congrats, Jessie, you have been accepted to AL for the role of Molly Weasley (FC: Christina Hendricks). Yes, Jessie, our favorite mom figure in the series! Molly is just such a gem, and I’m so excited that you’re bringing her here to this group! You have an excellent grasp on Molly as a character and that really shines through in our application. I love the concept of Molly as a social worker, and even though she’s currently a stay-at-home mom, I have so many thoughts as to how those skills could bring her into play in the broader plot. Well done, and hopefully we’ll get a Fabian soon so that we can see Molly deal with the death of Gideon alongside his twin! Please send in your blog (no sideblogs for first characters, please) in the next 24 hours and be sure to take a look at our new player checklist.Welcome home, we’re so excited to have you join the family!
OOC
name — jessi age — 26 pronouns — she/her timezone — pst activity level — 7. i just started back at work this week after 3 months of shelter in place, so my activity might be a little bit lower over the next couple of weeks while i get back in the swing of things, but once i’m back in the routine, i’ll be fairly active.
IC Overview
name — margaret “molly” olivia weasley age — 36 gender — female sexuality — bi patronus —
An Elephant: A witch or wizard with an elephant for a patronus can be extremely strong and not just physically, they are often wize and have strong spiritual connections with their communities and know where they lie within them.
Being part of a herd, in no way, means they are just like everyone else, they do things their own way and will only use brute Forse is necessary, usually choosing to consider others and mind what they say.
This patronus indicates a kind an gentle caster who if not careful can drift into anxiety leading to aggression if they don’t have their herd near by. Often, they spend hours trying to look after everybody else and forget to take care of themselves.
The elephant has strong family ties and has great perception, empathy and sence of self. Although they may take longer to develop their skills they will flourish to a greater extent than others.
Bonus fact: the elephant herd Is a matriarchy and the bulls go off on their own when they reach maturity. The elephant is a sign of strong femininity and affection. [x]
boggart — her family dead. The idea of losing loved ones (and this doesn’t include just blood relatives. It includes close friends as well) terrifies her. She loves so deeply and the idea of losing loved ones and being left alone in a world where this war is getting worse terrifies her.
IC In Depth
personality traits —
positive:
Maternal - If there was one constant personality trait that had followed Molly from when she was younger, it was being maternal. By the age of five, she had twin brothers to take care of and she flourished in the mothering department. She was always doting on them - making sure they were warm enough, making sure they weren’t hungry, making sure they had the attention they needed, which is something that she can still be found doing now that she has children of her own.
Passionate - Molly has always been passionate. Whether it be about her children, her education, or by the simplest thing like knitting. There’s no in between with Molly - she’s either not interested or immensely passionate.
negative:
Stubborn - One could say her children were already taking after her in this department. When she believed in something, she didn’t step down. Her and Arthur have gotten into plenty of arguments because of her stubbornness. She hates backing down, even if she knows she’s wrong.
Overbearing - At times Molly can come across as overbearing, though that’s not her intention. She only wants the best for everyone and her idea of what’s best might not line up with their idea of what’s best. It’s the maternal instinct in her that tries to push them into doing what she believes is best.
character biography —
Molly Weasley’s family life growing up was your typical 50s and 60s home life. It was straight out of a movie - a doting mother, a hard working father, a redheaded daughter who was as innocent as the next child. Her father, Carl Prewett, worked for the Ministry of Magic in the Improper Use of Magic Office and her mother, Margaret Prewett, was a primary school teacher for children of witches and wizards.
It was often said that there was no doubt that Molly was Margaret Prewett’s daughter. She was a spitting image of Margaret with a personality to match the older, fiery redheaded witch and because of this, they were often at each other’s throats (much like Molly’s future relationship with her own daughter). There were, however, minor differences between the two. Where Margaret was more abrasive and unwilling to stand down, Molly was a more diluted version of the older woman. But that didn’t take away from how close the two of them were. Molly went to Margaret for just about everything.
Then there was Carl Prewett. Many people were often surprised to find out that Carl Prewett had married Margaret. Where Margaret is very abrasive, Carl is gentle. Where she is very hot-tempered, he is very level-headed. While Molly picked up most of her personality traits from her mother, Molly had picked up her love of vinyl records, hard work, and compassion from Carl.
Being the oldest daughter had been a blessing in disguise for the Prewett parents. When they brought home not one, but two brothers for Molly, she instantly went into maternal overdrive. But that isn’t to say it was always rainbows and sunshine. Molly often found herself outnumbered two to one with various jokes about poop, farts, and burps. Then there was the constant prank pulling. They gave her hell, but she loved it.
Getting her Hogwarts letter wasn’t much of a surprise to the Prewett family. Molly had showed signs of magic from an early age. When she finally made it to the castle she had heard so much about from her parents, Molly flourished. She met people who would become life long friends. She met people she thought she would grow old with, but no longer would grow old with. But through all of that, she met Arthur Weasley. Over the years, they became close. Through that closeness, Molly fell in love with the redheaded man that reminded her so much of her father. He was the gentleness to her abrasiveness, he was the level-headedness to her hot-temper. He was her best friend and when they became an item in their late years at Hogwarts, she was over the moon.
When the pair of them graduated, they moved in together and both started their paths to start their perspective careers. Arthur went into the Ministry and Molly started training to become a Social Worker. Within a year, the pair of redheads were married and a year later Molly was a certified Social Worker and within another year, she was pregnant with their first child. Over the next eight years, Molly and Arthur welcomed four more children, the latest being a set of twins. During those eight years, she decided to become a full-time-mother - her way of Sticking It To The Man™. She loved being a Social Worker, but she loved being a mother more. But now that tensions are rising, she’s afraid of what might happen. She would do just about anything for her family.
plot ideas —
i would love to explore how molly dealt with the death of her brother, especially when she had kids and his twin brother is still alive. whether it be another family member, someone she vaguely knows, or someone she thinks of as being family.
extra —
“Freshly Baked Bread: warm, inviting, kindness. you are the definition of cooking as a loved language and are at your strongest when creating something. others find you soothing to be around and feel at ease due to your genuine warmth and nurturing nature. you can be a mix of gentle and passionate, but it’s that intensity that lives at the centre of your spirit that draws people to you most. compatible with: candle smoke, coffee, rosewater.”
“GRASS.The Grass type is all about life. Whether you’re watching nature grow, or allowing the seeds of a newfound friendship to blossom, Grass-types focus on the creation of things, rather than the destruction. Like a study oak, you’re a patient individual, though sometimes your relaxed demeanor can border on inaction. You enjoy personal relationships, and always are one to give a gift to a friend, or jump for joy at the smallest display of kindness. You truly like to believe in the best of people, it seems. This attitude is noble, but it can get you into trouble, Grass-type. You need to remain in control of your day-dreams, and make sure that your emotional compass doesn’t lead you to harm. If you can maintain a smile through the grit of the world,”

title: the devil’s in the details (1/1)
rating: t
a/n: for someone promoted ‘as the biggest bad to ever bad’, she was an even worse villain than captain hook and his many foiled plots - and thats saying something. so, here’s an attempt at fixing her curse deployment. bonus: it gives CS honeymoon time! (cs after the cut, with a dash of rb+bby gideon)
Fiona has always considered herself a visionary, a go-getter, a creative mastermind. When she developed The Dark Curse, she tested it with a multitude of woodland creatures and unfortunate peasants (though, given the wonders The Land Without Magic has managed to create, hot water from pipes, for example, she’s certain the peasants are more fortunate than not).
What she may have slightly miscalculated, however, is the details. Not that she’d ever admit it, but if there was one thing Regina had gotten right, it was the incredibly mundane details of a town. And a good thing too - if she hadn’t checked the key profiles of the people she intended to curse, she might have never known Henry was born in this land, which means had she cast her curse blindly, Henry would have been untouched by it completely, which could have been disastrous.
What to do with him, though, was the question. A sleeping curse seemed like an easy option, but then she’d need extra dust and a little more time to brew it. Killing anyone directly might have untold consequences, plus given the boy was tied to both Rumple (and herself) as well as The Saviour, who knew how that boy factored into it. Perhaps she could put him in a cage, like a pet? That might do.
And what of Emma? Given that the girl was still high off her wedding, and was now currently enjoying what Fiona assumed was a passionate honeymoon at home; what would break her the fastest?
After having planned and been so close to deploying The Dark Curse at the stroke of 6, she’s thankful she stayed her hand. A little more detail, but which one?
“Rumple!” she called, sending a jolt of magic through the ether, summoning him to her.
She felt the disturbance in the air just as he materialized, the jut of his eyebrow questioning.
“And to what do I owe this summons?”
“There’s a slight problem. Teensie one, but one mummy dearest needs assistance with.”
“I gathered that, when The Saviors wedding went off without a hitch.”
She tsked, honeying her voice. “And you didn’t come to check on what went wrong?”
“I assumed it was a deliberate move on your part, a false sense of security, perhaps?”
She thrilled inside, his confidence in her welcome.
“Yes, well, that and there is something I did not account for.”
When she said nothing further, he took a step closer, mouth quirked.
“And what is that?”
“Why, your grandson, of course.”
“Henry?”
“Surely that’s the one, unless you have more?”
The flash of his eyes were brief, but he said cooly, “What about the boy?”
“Well, what do we do with him? We can’t send him to the Enchanted Forest, he was born here. Killing him might be a tad messy, and locking him with Emma might work against us. I’ve been thinking of caging him up somewhere.”
She didn’t miss it this time - the flash of fury passing through his face, before it smoothed out.
“No cages. Give him a cursed memory, make him your son.”
“Well. That is a delicious irony, given that I would be mayor. Well done, Rumple. Now, get me something of Henry’s for me to bind this.”
“Why not use your blood, it runs through his veins as it does yours,” he said rather sarcastically, drawing her ire.
 “And risk cursing myself? Do I look like a damned fool?”
“Of course not, I will return shortly.”
“Swan, you’re bound to hurt a man’s feelings, with that frown after the way you just shattered around me,” Killian said, only half playful as he ran his fingers over the ribs of his wife.
“Sorry,” she said, just a little breathless, her breasts arching ever so slightly as she leaned into his touch, “it’s just, I’m half mind-blown, half hoping we can do this forever.”
“Give me a few minutes, love, and I don’t see why we can’t.”
“Sure, except for that giant black ball thats floating in the clock tower, we can have sex for eternity, I’m sure.”
“Ah,” he said, fingers coming to a stop in the valley between her breasts, splaying his hand on her, “that is the crux of what’s bothering you, I take?”
“It feels like she’s waiting for something, and I’m just waiting for it to happen. Don’t get me wrong,” she said quickly, just as he opened his mouth to speak, “married couple sex is amazing, that was, you are amazing, okay, and for a few moments I almost forgot, but now I’m just... I don’t want to lose you, Killian. Not again.”
“Oh Swan,” he murmured, gathering her in his arms and kissing her forehead, “when the clock hit 6, and I asked you where do you think her curse would take us, you said it didn’t matter because we’d win. What’s changed?”
“I just keep thinking, well, there’s no way she’d let us be together cursed. And I don’t want any realm where I’m not with you. I mean, I know we will win. I know it. But that doesn’t mean I have to like it.”
“Well truth be told, I have no wish to be separated for even a breath’s moment from my wife, but I know any such separation would be temporary.”
“I love when you call me wife.”
“And yet, I’ve yet to hear you call me husband.”
The twinkle in her eye returned as she regarded him, her deft fingers coming up to his chest as her nails lightly swirled in the downy hair there.
“Well, husband,” she said, voice taking the consistency of molten chocolate, “no sense getting worked up about things out of our control, right?”
“I’d definitely say I’m getting worked up, Swan,” he said, eyes flicking down meaningfully, his title affecting him more than he’d bargained for.
“That’s a kind of worked up I can work with,” she said, a grin breaking through her sultry tone as she all but climbed on top of him.
Oh yes, thought Killian, as he pulled her down for a deep kiss.
After it all, with Killian using the bean to return to Emma, freeing Henry, who while kept his memory, had been locked at home, working together to get Emma to believe, then simultaneously waking her from death with True Love’s Kiss; after it all, Killian sinks into his wife’s side as she plates him some more of Regina’s lasagna (which is infinitely better than Grannies, a secret he will take to his grave).
He’s not sure why they’re seated in such an elongated manner, though he is thankful that the crocodile is on the other end, and he isn’t forced to see his face as he dines. Still, Belle is his friend, and he is still Gideon’s godfather (Belle had asked him before the boy had been kidnapped, while Rumple had asked Regina), so he supposes he should speak to her at some point.
Unfortunately, when he does, the crocodile remains by her side, eyeing him with an expression that mirrors what Killian feels, as if he’s stepped in muck.
“Will you two quit that,” Belle cuts into their staring match with an exasperated sigh, “you two did work as a team to break this curse. And in 24 hours too, a new record.”
“How do you mean?” Killian asks, wondering how in the hell the crocodile is being credited for betraying them all in the first place.
Belle gives him the look, the same look she gives when The Lost Boys visit the library and mess with the arrangement of her books. “He made sure Henry kept his memories, and he killed his mother. to save us all.”
Somehow, Killian knows that whatever his reasons, they were self-serving, but he says nothing, instead humming, as if that’s acknowledgement enough.
“And you,” she continues, “got the bean--”
“Made me believe, and saved my life,” Emma interrupts, joining their conversation as she threads her arm through his.
“And in return, you both saved Gideon,” Belle says, staring down at the squirming baby in her arms.
“I prefer him this way,” Emma says dryly.
To his utter shock, Rumple-bloody-stiltskin laughs. Actually laughs, a genuine if soft sounding thing.
“As do I, Miss Swan, as do I,” the crocodile says.
“Ah, it’s Mrs Jones now, Gold,” Emma says, making Killian fall in love with her all over again. Damned perfect woman.

Interesting thoughts on saviors. Maybe there really is no corelation and Emma and Aladdin are just heroic light magic users who got sucked into battles that weren't theirs to fight? I mean, turns out Jafar was really Jasmine's nemesis and the EQ has always been Snow's. Maybe their role should have been more like Merlin's instead and that's why savior's don't get happy endings? Didn't you use to speculate Jasmine would actually be the savior? Congrats, kinda happened? But I wonder if we're (cont)
(cont) still missinga part of the story. Jaladdin are supposed to be back and didn’t peoplespeculate we’d get to see the first savior (possibly Tiger Lily), so maybethere’s more to it. Idk, I at least hope that’s not all, I thought the scarabwould be back and that Aladdin would rediscover his magic. Also, if it’s reallyrandom, than that whole savior mythology storyline doesn’t really make a lot ofsense? Anyway, they should get into what makes a savior. I think they are aninspiration.
Hi Nonny, thanks for dropping by!I agree, saviors are an inspiration and what we’ve seen Emma do best is givepeople hope and inspire them to be their best selves. She’s encouraged peopleto fight for their own happy endings, and we are watching her fight for ownhappily ever after right not. It’s certainly not an easy fight, and the handtremors of doom have certainly demonstrated the toll that fighting has taken onEmma. But even though she’s tired, and the fight has been difficult, and shemay have slowed her pace recently, it looks to me like she’s caught her secondwind and is going to be pushing back hard from now on.I do think that Rumple set Emma up as the savior for everyone caught up inRegina’s curse, he wanted to make sure he’d get his memories and magic backafter all so he could continue his search for Bae. But I agree that the EvilQueen is/was more Snow’s villain. It makes sense that Rumple purposefullycreating a loophole in the dark curse that would allow it to be broken, is whatmade Emma a “savior” – she initially had a specific purpose and goal toaccomplish. Once the original dark curse was, for the most part, broken Emmaand the other heroes started banding together to fight off whatever new big badhas been introduced, with Emma having the added benefit of using her lightmagic (which is conveniently taken away for “reasons” whenever necessary). SoEmma still carries the mantle of savior, but her fight, to me anyway, is moreof a shared battle lately than was the first challenge of breaking the darkcurse.
As for Aladdin, it remains a mystery as to why heis/was a savior. Did he have a singular purpose or goal to accomplish like Emmabreaking the dark curse, or did he just work to help out anyone in need whocame to him? Much of the time between his first meeting with Jasmine and hisfirst fight with Jafar and the confrontation with Jafar in that isolated homeremains a mystery. What we do know though, is that a savior who does not have asupport system from which to draw strength is weakened by the constant fight. Atthis point though, the entire savior mythology remains a mystery – are theymade because someone has a need, are they born when the balance of light anddark has been tipped too far into the darkness, are they triggered when a largegroup of people are in danger from a single villain? I’m hopeful we get someanswers before the finale, but I’m not holding my breath.
As for Jasmine and Aladdin, we know we’ll be seeingthem again, so I am assuming that we will find out whether that TLK did morethan restore Agrabah and release Aladdin from the genie’s shackles, and whetherAladdin’s savior power has been restored. I’ve had my doubts about theeffectiveness of the shears since Regina’s potion was able to track Aladdin tothat crypt by creating a link between his savior magic and Emma’s. I think alot of us were left wondering whether it would have really worked if Aladdin’smagic was truly gone. Plus, now that Jasmine and Aladdin are TL, I think we’llsee Jasmine offering Aladdin the same kind of support that Killian and Henryoffer Emma. In other words, if Aladdin gets his powers back but still suffersfrom hand tremors, I suspect that Jasmine’s presence will stop them.
The big question is, how does Aladdin get his powersback – TLK or something else? The shears are likely out of play as of 6x14, butI am still wondering if there will be some magical object that reverses theeffects. This season has been about the characters questioning themselves,making decisions that change their fates, and at times using magical objects tomake the change. Logically, there should be some object that would have thepower to bind someone to their fate or to restore their path if somethinghappened to change it prematurely, something to balance the fates’ shears.Maybe it is the scarab, does Henry still have it, or did he give it to Emma?But whether by magical object, or because of Jasmine’s TL support, I suspectthat Aladdin will be savioring again by the end of the season.
Although yes, way back in August after they showedthe clip with Aladdin and Jafar at SDCC I speculated that it would actuallyturn out that Jasmine was the savior, not Aladdin. I can’t believe anyoneremembered that! At the time, it seemed like Jafar walked away too easily andhe had something more to do. I guess after 6x15 we know what that was –shrinking Agrabah and its citizens down to fit into a 3 carat diamond. But Igot the impression that getting Aladdin to use the shears on himself was just abonus for Jafar, did you think that too? Then, lo and behold, it turns outJasmine has the key to Jafar’s ultimate victory all along, and so Jafar gotAladdin out of the way so Jafar could focus on his goal and get Jasmine to giveup the ring.
[As an aside, is there a parallel to be had withJafar making sure that Aladdin was out of the way, and Gideon making sure thatKillian is out of the way? Huh, maybe. I’ll have to give that one some morethought, but it does bring to mind 6x03 and references to people being pawnsand being removed from the chessboard, no?]
As for Tiger Lily, I’ve been speculating with @hooks-and-feathers (who also had a lot to say about the scarab) for a whilenow that Tiger Lily is another fairy. Although, making her the third saviorthat’s been hinted at is not out of the realm of possibility. But if Tiger Lilyand the Black Fairy had some sort of connection in the past, it might makesense if they were both fairies, especially since we also know Killian has aconnection to Tiger Lily too, and he doesn’t seem to have had the best trackrecord with fairies in his pirate days. Cf.Tinkerbell. I’m actually starting to wonder if this other savior that’s beenhinted at is someone that the Black Fairy sacrificed in some stylized ritual tocreate the Dark Realm. Very unlikely, but just a thought I had.
tl;dr – Emma as the savior was not random at all,Rumple built a loophole around her to ensure the dark curse would be broken.Aladdin as a savior, the payoff will likely come in the finale now that he hashis TL to support him and help him find his path. And combined, Emma andAladdin finding and choosing to live their HEAs will inspire others to fightfor theirs.

Full TLT series to date thoughts on rereading Harrow the Ninth, chapters 50-Epilogue
A probably semi-regular weekly bonus to my reread blog, since sometimes you realize things on reread that just make you need to yell in a full spoiler space.
The whole unraveling of Dios Apate, Major in 50 is beautifully played out.
Frustrating that I have to label that chapter as "Gideon the First" in my character tags, though, because the Pyrrha reveal doesn't come til a bit later.
But, grabbing the sunglasses. She has to hide her eyes, G1deon's long-thought-lost eyes. I think she knows, at this point, that Gideon is in Harrow's body. Especially at the sight of the gold eyes when she takes the sunglasses. I wonder if she felt a moment of surprise before she played her part in the unwinding of the story. I wonder if she wanted to get to know Gideon, her best friend's namesake, the daughter she could never have of her own, the child who could have been from her other-half's seed. I just love her so much even though she started out as a cop (if John's pieces are to be believed) and I love her making this little moment of connection with Gideon. ;~;
All my questions in the footnotes of my chapter 51 post about how can the Lyctors know about John's power draw go double in this full-spoiler space. I'd love to get my hands on whatever notes may exist on this subject… or about the whole series honestly, but let's not get too ambitious all at once.
Seeing John talk about the Resurrection era with the chaos crew gives me big feelings like… I don't think I believe that John's dream-version in Nona is 100% truth, but I feel like Alecto's book is going to contextualize that versus all of this, everything all together. There's too much about John's existence and relationships with his empire for this not to be an important part of the unraveling process. And I can't wait to reread chapter 51 in particular after reading Alecto.
But Mercy suggesting that John erase her memory with brain surgery… oh honey, he's got better tricks than all that. I'm still convinced he's done it so many times. Something about the interaction with August, just before this, maybe it's just me projecting my expectations and theories but it really reads to me like John knows August doesn't remember, can't remember what he would have said or done before the Resurrection. If John's accounting in Nona is true, then why wouldn't he want his friends to remember? He can tamper with their memories, why couldn't he leave them all intact?
(I still think this supports my multiple resurrections until he got the result (closest to what) he wanted.)
So, John tells us in 52 when he reforms himself from the dust that Dominicus stabilizes with him and there's a chance Sixth got hit badly by a solar flare. I'm still curious how his connection with Dominicus works if Alecto is "only" Earth.
Pyrrha swore loyalty to John as if she were G1deon… Will this come back on her in Alecto? I feel like John's exactly the sort to remember every detail when it comes to betrayal.
This feels like a good place to put my theory on what happened after Harrow 52 with regard to bodies. See, Gideon's body was with the BOE, we know this from As Yet Unsent. Nona, in Harrow's body, is with the BOE, but as we learn later in her book, Gideon's body was sent back to John somehow, or at least into the River where he could collect it again.
My theory is that Gideon's soul, in Harrow's body, was drawn to her own body. The River is everywhere and nowhere, travel through it is an accepted part of the universe of the story. So she dragged Pyrrha and Harrow's body up there, and then… something.
See, Cam/Pal and Pyrrha get real concerned about what's going to happen if Nona makes contact with Gideon's body when they find it again. What I think happened is that Gideon-in-Harrow touched Gideon's flesh-body, something happened (maybe an explosion, maybe a light, maybe just a small pop) and Gideon's body disappeared, along with (obviously) Gideon's soul, leaving behind Harrow's body, with the nascent Nona personality fragment of Alecto, and Pyrrha in G1deon's body, on BOE territory.
Gideon's body is harder to trace after this point, but I assume the pressure of contact with her body made her soul, still partially submerged in the River, drag her body in and merge with it again, leaving Harrow's body, already on the way out of the River, to pop out whole, with Pyrrha as well. I think Alecto's appearance might be Nona-Alecto asserting as Gideon's soul transfers back into her own body, and the resuscitation might be John, or Ianthe. I'm not 100% on what "the wrong voice twice over" could mean in this context unless it's John, as he's linked to Alecto.
Without being able to form mental images it's really hard for me to understand what the scene transition is in Harrow 53, if it's staying in a new, consciously constructed River bubble like Pal's or an actual movement from one place to another. I assume the coffin she ends up in here is the same one that the sneaky preview reading from Alecto featured her waking up in. I'm still curious how she was there and in dreams in Nona. Unless this was more "you're already in the River and nobody has established physics in the River therefore you can do whatever is narratively convenient" which I would honestly respect more than a half-assed explanation in the end.
Unless, this really is a big game of swap-the-bodies. If Gideon swaps back into her own body, and Harrow and Alecto end up swapped for the duration of Nona, since Harrow was present and conscious (somehow??) at the end of Nona. Hmm. This bears thinking about as I continue rereading.

Full TLT series to date thoughts on rereading Gideon the Ninth, chapters 16-20
A probably semi-regular weekly bonus to my reread blog, since sometimes you realize things on reread that just make you need to yell in a full spoiler space.
Here, we finally come to Cytherea's justification for killing the Fifth. Research into the Lyctors, finding old communications… What did she fear people finding out? Was it just how much the Lyctors have betrayed the Jod in the myriad of their lives, or is it something else?
Another indication that Canaan House has been frozen in time for nine thousand years: the doors opening so smoothly. The whole place is in disrepair but the hinges haven't been rusted shut by the sea air in NINE THOUSAND YEARS? As long as it's been since humans first started engaging in something recognizable as modern agriculture and the locks aren't falling to rust dust on contact? It's sus, that's all I'm sayin, and it fits my theory. Especially when you add the scarlet key room having been preserved better than the public spaces. The wood's not rotting and even the ashes still smell of presumably-tobacco. We know this is possible, why shouldn't it have been done even more?
Gideon finding the tobacco ashes by the bed, and a fingerbone and a whetstone in the same drawer, I can't help but think of sweet Pyrrha.
And of course, the note, the note with Gideon's name on it, the OLD Gideon's name. What "sad + trying reality"? What will remain incomplete, and what word could have continued that "t" after it? "He can't fix my deficiencies" may or may not imply that this was a note from Anastasia or Samael. And what was Gideon to be congratulated on?
Cytherea saying she likes the idea of "what" killed Abigail and Magnus, you cheeky little scamp. And going on about it being comforting that something of you might survive ten thousand years. The trauma of lyctorhood must be a real pain.
Also, the way she asks "Why does everybody think that [the trial is competitive instead of collaborative]?", it's hard not to draw TOO much attention to lines like this that crack the whole game open, but it was all right there all along! And then suggesting how Harrow might go through with it. Is it because she likes Harrow? Thinks she's the most likely to succeed? Thinks she's the most likely to accept and fail? Just because she wants to know how in the heck Gideon got to the Ninth, with Jod's genes? So many possibilities.
I wonder if Gideon was better equipped to survive the Lab Eight trial without permanent damage. Pal recognizes that it's too real a possibility for him to risk Cam, and even Harrow is hesitant to use Gideon for this… but given Gideon's [ahem] parentage, I wonder what would happen to a normal cavalier who underwent this.
"Why did you want to be a Lyctor?" "I didn't want to die." I just want to lay down with my paperback open to this page flat on my face for a minute. By Jod, the wordplay. Harrow is asking why Dulcinea chose to come here, and Cytherea is responding about her choices ten thousand years ago. I just. Chef's kiss. This is one of the lines in the book that hits me in the chest the most profoundly. LAYERS! LAYERSSSSSS!
